Green Eggs and Ham premieres November 8 on Netflix. Produced by Warner Bros.
This is a spot I directed for Netflix, both the live and animation at Tonic DNA, produced by Howard Huxham.
Warner Bros has released the first shorts for their reboot of Looney Tunes. I’ve had the joy of working on some of these shorts for the past year, and our first one is out, a 2 minute teaser titled “Dynamite Dance.”
This was produced at Tonic DNA with my intrepid team of phenomenal animators and producers. A lot of love went into this short, and a lot of childhood dreams were realized.
Here’s a photo of me and my lead animators on this short: left to right: Me, Chris Wieme, Guillaume Blackburn, Phil Lockerby, and Alain Seguin.
More Looney Tunes shorts coming soon. Stay tuned!
For the past year I’ve been working as an animation supervisor on two episodes for the upcoming Netflix series Green Eggs and Ham. It’s animated by hand the old fashioned way, and the quality is as good as any Disney animated feature film since The Rescuers.
It’s to be released this coming November. The characters are voiced by Adam Devine, Michael Douglas, Diane Keaton, John Turturro and many others. Working with Montreal-based Tonic DNA, the project has been a lot of work, but a lot of fun.
The 13 episode series will find an audience not just with kids, but with parents as well. The story is fun, clever, and very well-written. This isn’t your standard TV animation fair.
You can read more about it at these news sources.
One of my favorite Educ’alcool commericals I directed is on air. Renard, or “Fox.”
The Educ’Alcool campaign in Quebec has been a lot of fun as we were mandated to produce old school animation. Both are getting loads of air time in Canada. This spot is Turkeys, or Les Dindons, below both the English and French versions.
Directed another spot for Jamieson with Tonic DNA.
Directed a second campaign for Educ’ alcool at Studio Pascal Blais with producer Bernard Lajoie and animators Sam Cabanac and Guilluame Blackburn. These guys make my job easy.
Educ’ alcool Gorilla
Educ’ alcool Porcupine
A few more short commercials for Jamieson.
Two PSA’s recently completed for Éduc’alcool which promotes responsible drinking. The Éduc’alcool folks came to Pascal Blais Studio with an idea to do these two spots in traditional 2D animation. We proposed we produce them as a throwback to the old Tom & Jerry cartoons of the past, with similar character design and background styling. We even added some real film grain to complete the look. My old colleague Mike Surrey animated the lead cat. The spots caught the attention of Infopress who wrote a short article here. English dubs are forthcoming. My hats off to the Pascal Blais team for their excellent work.
